Back in April, Mike Curtis, the 2LaneTraveler, posted a video about a
visit to Chattanooga, TN. The video is
here. Chattanooga is one of my favorite cities, and
I'd been to most of the places in the video. But there was one I'd never
heard of, another I knew of but had not managed to visit, and a third that
appeared to be greatly expanded since I was there many years ago. I
immediately decided I needed to visit those three places, and almost
immediately decided to combine it with a ferry crossing that had been on
my list for some time. I quickly plotted a three day trip. But, as summer
sped by, scheduling conflicts, unpleasant weather, and other issues kept
the trip from happening. I eventually came to the conclusion that it would
be a next year outing.
Then I checked the weather this morning and realized that it was the start
of a string of pretty nice days. Seeing that it was also the beginning of
a week with no major commitments set my thoughts in motion. I verified
availability for the required three nights of lodging, then booked them.
I did not purchase tickets for the museums in advance but did verify that
they will be open. Lastly, I checked operating status of the ferry and was
disappointed to see that was closed today for maintenance. With luck, it
will be open tomorrow. If not, I'll just have to work it in on another
trip.
