Used the day to visit Mammoth Cave national Park and ended it at the Birthday Bash banquet.

Another rainy start but some sunshine at the museum. Got a look at the C6 and hooked up with some friends from California.

Prelude
In March of 1998, my very first "official" Corvette activity was the inaugural C5 Birthday Bash at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky. In fact, I had registered for the event before I even owned a Corvette. I picked up the car at the museum on the 15th and had only a week of less than ideal weather with the car before heading to Las Vegas for a meeting. I missed the first day of the Bash on Friday but managed to get there early on Saturday. I had a good time (dinner in the museum Skydome was pretty cool) and remained a C5 Registry member (W407) for a total of five years but, for for a variety of reasons, have yet to attend my second Birthday Bash. Looks like 2004 will be it.

This year, the event is called the C5/C6 Birthday Bash. That doesn't make it any clearer just what it is that's being celebrated but does make it seem a bit more interesting. The posted schedule bears out the idea that the C6 Corvette, a 2005 model to be available this fall, will be a star attraction. I'm not exactly in the market but may be someday and like to look & listen in any case.

To spice things up just a little more, we will be staying at the 67 year old Wigwam Village #2 in near by Cave City. Getting there will be an end of the work day affair so the routing will be based on time and not attractions. Hopefully, we'll make up for that coming home.
