Day 8: September 1, 2001
Down the Coast

Our visits to the fort and other St. Augustine sites were out of sequence but they more or less removed any need to stop today. We passed south through St. Augustine and headed toward Hastings. Apparently the potatoes that Granny saw being planted worked out well and many of the "miles and miles of forest, palms and palmettos" are still there.

Granny's Letters:

Frank & Gertrude became official "Tin Can Campers" during their first visit to Holly Hill. We didn't find a Tin Can meeting but we did find "Chris' Lounge". Close enough.

Three more towns from Granny's list of places visited. The shell roads she was so pleased with have been replaced with something a bit more permanent but probably no smoother.
